Foreword:

Solar power in the People's Republic of China is a growing industry with over 400 PV companies. In 2013, China was the world's leading installer of solar photovoltaic, adding a record 11.3 GW of capacity to a cumulated total of 18.3 GW. This is more than twice as much as in 2012 when China installed about 5.0 GW of solar panel capacity. Solar water heating is extensively implemented as well.
The National People's Congress set 5 GW as an official minimum PV target for 2015, with a longer-term target of 20–30 GW by 2020. In May 2014, the National Development and Reform Commission announced that the solar capacity target had been upped again, now to 70 GW by 2017.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics of the People’s Republic of China, General Administration of Customs and National Energy Administration of China, the data of China Solar Energy Industry Research Report is authoritative.
